Learn about our mission and the team behind Howellcome OpenSource Archive.

Our Mission

Howellcome OpenSource Archive was established to provide fast, reliable access to open source software distributions worldwide. We aggregate mirror servers from universities, organizations, and community contributors to ensure users always have access to the fastest available mirror for their location.

Our network currently spans 42 mirror locations across North America, Europe, and Asia, serving over 8.7 petabytes of downloads monthly. We work directly with open source projects to ensure our mirrors stay synchronized and up-to-date.

What We Offer

Our Team

We are a distributed team of system administrators, network engineers, and open source enthusiasts. Our members contribute to various open source projects and understand the importance of reliable software distribution infrastructure.

Located across the United States, our team operates 24/7 to ensure maximum uptime and performance for all our mirror locations.

History

Founded in 2019, Howellcome OpenSource Archive started as a small mirror network serving a handful of universities. Over the years, we have grown to become one of the largest community-driven mirror aggregators, partnering with over 50 institutions worldwide.

In 2023, we expanded our services to include container registries and programming language package mirrors, further cementing our role as a one-stop destination for open source software distribution needs.
